About The North East Community Foundation

The mission of The North East Community Foundation is to assist a diverse group of donors in improving the quality of life in and around North East, Pennsylvania.

How we do what we do

We make sure each donor’s philanthropic interests are carried out in a professional and timely manner through the creation and administration of flexible, permanent endowments.

How we began

The North East Community Foundation was formed in 1991. The first directors were elected and the first officers appointed in May, and we received Tax Exempt status as a Public Foundation from the IRS in September. In January 1992, we received a $100,000 anonymous gift that enabled us to begin having a significant impact in the community.

Where we are now

The North East Community Foundation remains dedicated to our mission of assisting donors in improving the quality of life in and around North East, only now we have help on the investment and development side thanks to our affiliation in 2001 with The Erie Community Foundation. This agreement provides the NECF with the investment and development expertise of a $150 million foundation without sacrificing any control over how our funds are distributed.
